Is life as we know it over?
It’s Saturday.
The kids are home.
My husband is home.
I went to the grocery store.
It’s Saturday.
The kids will be home for at least the next four weeks.
My husband still has work, for now. Some people are already losing wages.
The grocery store was packed with people and out of toilet paper.
It’s Saturday.
The weather is beautiful. I’d love to meet a friend for a play date, but should I?
Last Saturday, we were planning to attend parades, celebrations and festivals.
By Wednesday, across the country, several large scale events were cancelled.
By Friday, all schools in Louisiana were closed until April 13th.
That’s tentative of course, because we don’t really know how long this will last or how much it will affect our future.
It’s Saturday.
After all that’s changed in a week, who has any idea what next week will bring, or the week after, or the months after.
How big will the economic ripple be? What about the death toll?
Will we go “back to normal” or will normal cease to exist?
It’s Saturday. A Saturday where I am painfully aware that what’s headed our way could change the face of society as we know it.
